Regeneration of Goods Lifts

The Issue:                      

Drive Solutions Centre Partner ESP, were asked to provide a bespoke goods lift system at the Vauxhall plant in Luton. The existing hydraulic lift had become unreliable which was increasing the risk of mechanical failure.

The Solution:

ESP designed, manufactured, installed, and commissioned two new lift systems over a six-week period. This included the decommissioning & removal of the lift existing lift.

The strict timescales significantly reduced the impact of downtime and ensured production targets were maintained throughout.

• Both lifts were fitted with a fully regenerative drive system for energy efficiency as well as calibrated load cells for overload protection and local operator screens to facilitate error diagnosis and show system status.
• Both systems were designed with SERAPID Linklift rigid chain lifting columns, which have mechanically synchronised drive trains, each with two motors and independent brakes.

The Outcome:

Since the completion of this project, both the plant managers and operators have highly commended their reliability.
